Our mission

Curious kids deserve room to explore. Parents deserve to breathe. We make childproofing that keeps the risky rooms closed and is gentle on your home.

Every product goes on by hand, stays out of small reach, and comes off by hand when the curious years are over.

Meet Gentle Lock

Small, white and up out of reach

Toddlers often learn to open doors long before they learn what is on the other side. Gentle Lock keeps the bathroom, the laundry room or the office closed to them, and open to you.

01

All white, about 5 in long

A small white body on one side, a slim back piece on the other, joined by a band that wraps the door edge. No logos, no colors, nothing that shouts.

02

Up high on the handle side

It sits well above the handle, where small hands cannot reach it, and close to eye level for an adult.

03

Open from either side

From the latch side, push the latch back with your thumb. From the other side, pull the slider. Show every caregiver once.

04

On and off by hand

Nothing to drill and nothing to peel. When the curious years are over, slide it off.

How it works

Three steps, all by hand.

  1. Step 1

    Slip it on

Slide Gentle Lock onto the handle side edge of an interior door, up high, by hand. A slim band wraps the edge, with one piece on each side of the door. No tools, no adhesive.

  2. Step 2

    Close the door

The spring latch catches on the door frame by itself, and little ones stay on their side.

  3. Step 3

    Grown ups open it

Push the latch back with your thumb on one side, or pull the slider on the other. A small lever switches it off when you want the door to swing freely.

All by hand, both ways

It goes on by hand, and grown ups get through from both sides of the door. Show every caregiver once.

What we believe

Safety should feel gentle

01

Respect for the home

Many families rent, and every family cares about their space. Our products go on by hand and come off by hand.

02

Built from real problems

We start by reading what parents write about the products they already own: what slips, what marks the paint, what is hard to open.

03

Plain, careful claims

We tell you what a product does and what it does not. Nothing replaces a watchful adult, and we will always say so.

Why we started

A lot of childproofing asks you to drill your doors

The years between one and four are when children learn to climb, open and explore. Much of the childproofing made for that stage means drilling holes or sticking tape to painted doors.

That is a hard ask for families who rent, and an annoying one for everyone else. So we set out to make products that go on by hand, stay out of the way and come off by hand. Gentle Lock is the first.
